not as good as the original, *smile*

I first found John Paul Thurlow on Susie Bubble's blog Style Bubble (incredibly awesome, just so y'know) and I kind of got inspired to do something like his drawings.
He draws magazine covers with pencils and sometimes changes them slightly so in the end they look AMAZING. Yes, that warrants capital letters. Of course I completely forgot about it, but four months (and a few days, no need to get technical) later I went into a magazine cover drawing FRENZY. I'd just like to say, these are nowhere near as good because (as i said in the introduction post) my drawing skills don't extend to faces. Or, hands, really.
So my people are just a little bit creepy, haha.

Yes. Btw the writing on the face of the last photo says ' a face used to be here'. I wrote it because EVERY. SINGLE. PERSON. asked me whether the actual cover had no face!
It's completely unskilled compared to John Paul Thurlow.
In fact, my own brother compared it to a drawing he did and said his was better. He has the drawing skills of an incompetent bricklayer.
Annyong (apparently hello and goodbye are the same in korean..?)

the first. ever. outfit. post.

unfortunately, its just me in the outfit. and it's not exactly the best photo taking ever.
baby steps, guys, baby steps.
first, here is the photo for your perusement, amusement and eventual recoil..ment.

now the story! settle round, dear imaginary readers.
my taiwanese grandmother used to go out and get dressed up and generally completely defy her actual Age. (she's only like, 60 anyway). Now though she has all her time taken up in various matters that force her to stay at home. Well, not force. She chooses too. But that's not relevant!
Anyway, she had a truckload of old clothes that she didn't need. A few of them were a bit, old women-ish with that vague feel of polyester and dust. But out of that heap came this pretty little dress. I cannot imagine her wearing this. It's probably from when she was young..
And it doesn't look dated in the least..or at least I think it doesnt, but what do I know?
There was also a denim jacket, a down-to-my-ankles skirt that I'm not sure why I got, and a knitted three quarter sleeve jumper..thing. Notice the amazingly detailed and precise descriptions.
So, I rather like this dress. It's got that panel thing on the skirt that reminds me of..fish. And houses! The only thing is, it's got lace cuffs that are just..beyond words. and not in a good way.
Oh well. Nothing can be perfect.
Except for George Harrison, Jimmy Page and Top Gear.
I'm thinking I talk about them too much, right? ITS NOT MY FAULT I SWEAR.
They're deeply ingrained in my brain.
Hello Goodbye,
Hannah
P.S See how I made a Beatles song into my sign-off? Yay.

i wish the internet didn't lie..

here's a fun game: search taobao.com and see how many obvious fakes/incorrectly labelled things you can find.

for those not living in china/with knowledge of chinese websites, taobao is like a chinese ebay.

and one day I thought I'd put Rodarte into the search bar.

Behold:

Are these not in fact the Christian Louboutin for Rodarte (or at least a copy that vaguely resembles the original) spiky beglittered beyond high heels?

And are they not priced at, not joking, MOST EXPENSIVE PAIR 650 KUAI.

that's...they can't be real. why does the internet TAUNT poor people with promises of cheap designer labels...?!
Well, at least in China there's always a copy of everything. Even runway shoes made for a not exactly mainstream (at least in Beijing) brand.
Adieu,
Hannah

it has come to my attention..

..that I appear to be writing this blog alone. Yes, my fellow blogger seems to have abandoned me. *glares at unnamed person* So she better start writing soon or I won't give her the Beatles disc...

Anyway until then I shall console myself by watching A Hard Day's Night and Top Gear endlessly while wearing scarves and my dad's thermal gloves.

Jezza, Hamster and Captain Slow. Consumer advice at it's best. :D.
A picture to help me through my grief:
Because no matter how *sob* alone I feel, obviously this supermodel wearing expensive clothes being tended to by fake nuns has it worse than me.

Hannah

baby you can drive my car, yes i'm gonna be a star

I once had a girl, or should I say, she once had me.
I'm in too deep with the Beatles. I will never escape their perfect clutches...
Anyway. I'm switching my ipod to play Belle and Sebastian now, or I'll never stop listening to Rubber Soul. And I mean NEVER.
A pattern is emerging in this blog, actually. Basically, I put the lyrics of the song I'm listening to as the title. Then I babble about bands for a bit. And THEN the post arrives, late but no less welcome. Anybody know what song my title is from? No? Oh well.
Floral Doc Martens. Or, as they're sometimes known, The Love of My Life. And since I overuse Google I stumbled across photos. Of a Korean band that I've never heard of. And the Doc Martens aren't floral, true, but the outfits are no less cool. Without further ado:

The guy with the glasses reminds me a bit of a guy in my class.. Yes. ANYWAY. Sorry I don't know their names. I should find out more about Korean celebrities, if only for their amazing fashion sense. Don't you just love his polka dot guitar?

And, yknow, more Doc Martens. Floral ones.
*creepy grin*my precious...

Also, have you SEEN this guy? He's 15!
You don't see many guys still in school who are that stylish. Or at least not in my school..
Oh, and all photos are from Kokokoreano.com. Except for the pic where it's a close up of floral doc martens. That's from...um..Google.

he said one and one and one is three

don't you just hate the night before school starts? it still feels like the holidays, but instead of a long lie in, tomorrow you have to wake up at 6 in the morning and put on a shirt, skirt and tie before traipsing out into the freezing snow.

Anyway, I went on style.com (all photos in this post are from that site) and I was searching through their runway photos, as people do.

it's half past midnight so sorry if my writing is a bit incoherent.

Onto the long awaited photos:

First up, Viktor & Rolf Fall 2008 RTW!

Do I like scallops? Here's my answer, in dress form.

Oh if this model got to keep the dress she could have had so much FUN.

Imagine a scene in a crowded club, she's wearing it and a guy comes up to her.

Guy: Wanna dance?

Model Whose Name I Don't Know: Read the dress, idiot.

Yes, I have a weird mind.

I would wear this. Really. I don't even care that I would probably freeze to death wearing it. I would walk around heated shopping malls saying 'Dream on, dude." in a sleepy voice.

Maybe a DIY brooch version is in order?

Oh who am I kidding, I'll always love this one more.

To be honest though, I didn't really like the rest of the collection. The amazing trenchcoats are enough for now.

It's time for some couture..

I went back to the oldest couture collections I could find on style.com.

2001. well I was hoping for the 90's but that'll do!

The review of Balmain's couture collection is slightly surreal. It mentions President Bush's inaugaration ball. Just thought I'd put that in.

This was a pretty terrible post in general. Ah well, there's no one to disappoint!

Bye,

Hannah

the times they are a'changin'

so this post has nothing to do with the title. Big surprise. I was in a Dylan (of the Bob variety) mood today as opposed to the Beatles mood I've been in for the past couple of days. I swear I never even knew how good they were till I fell in love with George Harrison (RIP)!

Anyway, I was bored and it was late and I was searching the net, looking for things to do. And this was one of them! Yay for blogs.

Here are the rules: Post rules at the beginning of the post. Answer all the questions. Tag 6 people, go to their blog and leave a comment to inform them that they've been tagged and asking them to read your blog. Let the person who tagged you know when you've posted your answer.
(I know, I know, no chance of them coming to a little unknown blog that's literally read by two people. Me and Naomi. Yes, the writers comprise the sole readership. *smiles*)

1) What were you doing 10 years ago? Um..(I say um too much) Probably stuck in nursery playing Powerpuff girls and fighting over the swings. C'mon, I was 2!

2) What are 5 things on your to-do list today?
-enjoy the fact that school is cancelled because of snow
-practice bass till I'm at least slightly competent
-finish drawing the cover of Dazed and Confused
-tidy my bombsite of a room
-make a snowman with my little brother!

3) Snacks you enjoy: Chips (of the fried potato stick variety) and vinegar! Um. I tend to eat a lot of potatoes and Weetabix. Those don't count as snacks, do they? Wow potatoes and Weetabix! So glamorous, haha.

4) Places you have lived: Yarm (tiny town in England)-Taipei-Shanghai-Beijing.

5) What are 5 things you would do if you were a billionaire?
-Buy a factory that makes pearl tea. If those exist
-go to university
-visit iceland, italy, france, everywhere
- give out money randomly to people who needed it. and charities..
-SHOP. till the salespeople are sick of the sight of me!

6) People you want to know more about: John Lennon RIP, George Harrison RIP, Bob Dylan, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, Morrissey, Johnny Cash, Jimi Hendrix RIP-this list is too long. I'll stop now.

And that concludes my attempts at relieving my boredom. Who should I tag..? Damnit SIX.
Six people who probably have better things to do than, um, do this. Ah well. Onto the tagging!

I'm tagging (and I do realise most of these people will never respond):

Fitz from If the Sok Fitz...? Also, I don't know these people I just like their blogs. Do normal people do this? I mean, tag random people they've never had contact with?
Kingdom of Style
Belle from Fashion Pirates
Susie from Style Bubble ...now I'm getting ambitious.
2 to go. What is WRONG with my brain?! It was working fine when I had to revise but now it's like mush. MUSH.
purplemacaroni.blogspot.com
feelslikewhitelightning.blogspot.com

gah I'm tired. I should probably go comment and tell them I tagged them then wait for the inevitable awkward virtual silence. *yawns*

Zai Jian, ( I re used it I know..)

Hannah (the one who posts out of this supposed duo *glares at naomi*)
Joking, joking. She's the only one who's with me in OBD.
(obsessive Beatles Disorder for those not in the know)

Here's some pictures so everyone can love them too :)

And some George.
Perfect way to finish!
